Manchester United is facing a turbulent start to the season, leading to speculation about potential January transfers to boost the performance.
Erik ten Hag is feeling the pressure as the team has managed to accumulate just six points in their first five games, placing them nine points behind league leaders Manchester City.
This is despite the club bringing in seven new players during the summer transfer window.
Recent reports from Spain, as cited by FourFourTwo, suggest that Manchester United is preparing a bid for Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry and Atletico Madrid’s, Jose Gimenez.
In terms of Gnabry, last season he contributed significantly with 14 goals and six assists in 34 league appearances, playing an integral role in Bayern’s title win.
With current squad members Antony unavailable and Jadon Sancho out of favor, Gnabry could potentially fill a void in the squad.
The reported price tag for Gnabry in January stands at around £52 million, a substantial investment should Manchester United decide to proceed.
In addition to their interest in Gnabry, Manchester United is also eyeing Atletico Madrid’s centre-back, Jose Maria Gimenez.
The 28-year-old Uruguayan defender, who has enjoyed a successful decade at Atletico, is being considered as a potential replacement for Harry Maguire, who has been linked with an exit for several months. Gimenez’s contributions to Atletico last season included 10 clean sheets in 28 La Liga appearances and two goals, underlining his defensive prowess and versatility.
