Football Insider have shed light on Manchester United’s intentions regarding their long-standing forward, Anthony Martial.

Interestingly, the club has reportedly received three offers from undisclosed clubs, keen on acquiring the French striker’s services. As the Red Devils assess these options, the challenges Martial faces in securing a starting spot at Old Trafford are becoming increasingly evident.

Earlier this week, on 10 October, Football Insider pointed out Martial’s growing discontent with being relegated to a backup role at United, more so as his current contract is nearing its end. His position has been further jeopardised by the summer acquisition of Rasmus Hojlund, who quickly found favor with Erik ten Hag.

Though Martial’s current contract is set to lapse this season, Manchester United holds the ability to renew it for an additional year.

Reports indicate that the club might employ this strategy to maintain the forward’s market worth. This would pave the way for a potential transfer by 2024. However, considering the present offers and Martial’s situation, an earlier exit in the upcoming winter transfer window or next summer is very much on the cards.

Despite the buzz during the previous transfer window, no deal involving Martial materialized before the 1 September deadline. Evaluating his performance this season, he’s had only three starts in nine matches, with a single goal in the League Cup. His involvement dwindled further after Hojlund’s Premier League commencement against Brighton on 16 September. Earning a basic wage of about £250,000 per week, Martial’s appearances have been primarily off the bench.

The 2020-21 season witnessed him score a modest nine times in 29 fixtures. Since his transition from Monaco to Manchester in 2015, which set United back by an initial sum of £38.5million, Martial has amassed 89 goals and delivered 54 assists over 307 matches.

It’s also noteworthy to mention his temporary shift to Sevilla during the latter half of the 2021-22 season. Unfortunately, the move yielded just a goal and an assist across 12 appearances.
