Manchester United are reportedly one step closer to finally signing another striker to the club, easing the burden currently felt by Rasmus Hojlund as the team’s only striker.

This summer saw Anthony Martial part ways with the club after nine years as a Red Devil, helping to add to United’s impressive trophy cabinet being included in a UEFA Europa League title, English Super Cup title, two English League titles and the FA Cup.

With the French striker no longer at Old Trafford, the pressure to convert opportunities on the pitch lies with Hojlund, a pressure he’s so far been able to rise to.

Arriving from Atalanta last season for €73.9 million, the Danish international has so far grabbed 16 goals in 43 games in his debut season.

In recent weeks United have been scouring the transfer market for another talented young striker, much like Hojlund, who can come into the team and relieve that pressure, whilst having youth on their side to carry the team for a number of years.

The result of the ongoing search has seen links with Barcelona’s Vitor Roque, Wolves’ Matteus Cunha and LOSC Lille’s Jonathan David, with the latter receiving a further development in recent reports.

LOSC Lille announced last month that they would be open to selling their first choice striker for the right price, with the Canadian entering the last year of his contract, so the Ligue 1 side would much rather cash in on on the goal scorer rather than lose him for free at the end of his contract.

With the Canadian international being up for grabs for £30 million, it’s understandable that United have a race against other top contenders for David’s signature, with Chelsea and Spurs both interested in the striker.

Graeme Bailey on HITC has reported that the player would love to play in the Premier League, with United following the 24-year-old’s career of over a year now.

The report continued that United have advanced their talks for the striker in a strong effort to bring David to Old Trafford.
