With us entering the final week of June, a number of players are going into the final week of their contracts, with clubs scrambling to negotiate extensions of players they still see in their players, and outgoing players looking for their next venture.

So far we’ve seen Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial leave at the end of their contracts, having to look for clubs to continue their footballing career, with Varane holding talks with David Beckham’s Inter Miami and Martial being considered by both Marseille and Lyon.

However, United’s record-breaking academy graduate is in the same boat after months of contract negotiations which are yet to agree terms to keep the  midfielder at Old Trafford, with the young star considering his next steps on his footballing journey.

Holding the record for the youngest ever player to represent United in European competition, Shola Shoretire was handed his debut for the club and European debut by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, playing the youngster against Newcastle and Real Sociedad in the Europa League back in February 2021 at the age of 17.

With the now 20-year-old having been discussing his future with the club throughout the second half of the season, a loan deal back in January was only due to be agreed if a new contract could be signed.

Another potential loan which fell through was at the end of the 2022 summer transfer window, with Erik ten Hag requesting to oversee his development at United, before sending the Englishman to Bolton on loan last January for the second half of the season.

Despite both Solskjaer and ten Hag taking an interest in the 20-year-old, Shoretire is yet to make an impact on the senior team, having only represented the Red Devils on five occasions.

However, Manchester World understand that United believe that they are still well placed to oversee and support Shoretire’s development, offering pre-season exposure and a loan spell next season.

After eleven years at the club, Shoretire is exploring his options around an opportunity of a fresh start away from Old Trafford.
