With the Red Devils’ incoming transfer activity nearing its conclusion, a Premier League club is swooping in to grab three Manchester United stars.

West Ham have today turned their attention to three United players – as they look to strengthen their squad this summer using much of the Declan Rice funds received.

West Ham Triple Swoop

According to a report from The Athletic, the Red Devils have had a £60 million ($76.7m) approach for both Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay.

David Moyes is a big admirer of the pair and is pushing for their signings, but the dealings with his former employers Manchester United might not end there.

Reports today are suggesting that there has been some loose discussions around a loan deal for striker Anthony Martial, according to @ExWHUEmployee.

Harry Maguire (16 appearances in 22-23), Scott McTominay (24), and Anthony Martial (21) all underperformed last season and will be looking to solidify starting positions in a bid to fight for a Euro 24 spot next Summer.

A formal bid looks to be in for Maguire and McTominay, but it’s the rumored interest in Martial which is flying under the radar. The French forward registered 6 goals in 11 starts for Manchester United last season and will look to kick-off the season in that same form.

Should West Ham secure Martial, they’ll then have 5 recognised strikers available. Ings, Antonio, Scamacca and Mubama might have something to say in their fight for a starting place – a headache David Moyes will be keen to have after struggling to find a perfect target man throughout the 2022-23 season (Ings was the top scorer with 8).

Despite his quality, Martial would find it a challenge to force his way into David Moyes’s starting lineup, and for this reason, it could be difficult to convince him to join.

What looks far more likely right now, is one of (if not both) Maguire and McTominay making their way south to wear the Claret and blue. The Hammers are looking for more defensive reinforcements since the big-money departure of Declan Rice to Arsenal, and just today announced the signing of defensive midfielder Edson Álvarez from Ajax.

Interestingly, during his time as Manchester United’s manager, David Moyes made just 3 signings – Saidy Janko (Zurich), Marouane Fellaini (Everton) & the helicopter-loving Juan Mata (Chelsea). A deal for Maguire, McTominay & Martial would be a triple swoop few would see coming at the start of this transfer window.
