In the backdrop of the La Liga faceoff between Real Sociedad and Mallorca on Saturday, Erik ten Hag, deployed scouts to Spain with particular attention on two emerging stars.

According to reports from FootballTransfers, the urgency to strengthen the defensive midfield is evident. With Casemiro’s form waning as he approaches 32, combined with his increasing susceptibility to injuries, there’s a perceived need to secure a formidable replacement. Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad appears to be on Ten Hag’s radar for this role.

However, midfield isn’t the only area of concern. The winger’s slot may soon see a change. With Sancho’s relationship with the manager hitting rock bottom, the January transfer window could very well see the English winger’s exit.

In his stead, Takefusa Kubo, Real Sociedad’s jewel who has grabbed attention from elite clubs across Europe, is considered a prime candidate for United – as per FootballTransfers.

It’s worth noting that Kubo, who comfortably graces both flanks, transitioned to Sociedad from Real Madrid in a €6.5 million agreement. Notably, Madrid still possesses some rights concerning the young winger.

Interestingly, Zubimendi had previously caught the eye of Arsenal during the past summer transfer window. However, the Gunners refrained from making any moves for the Spanish sensation.

Challenges persist for Ten Hag, who recently had to adapt to positional adjustments, positioning new addition Sofyan Amrabat as a left-back in recent matches.

Scott McTominay, despite his heroics against Brentford with two critical late strikes, reportedly doesn’t rank high on Ten Hag’s preferred list. Speculation suggests that the Scotsman may be on the move in the upcoming January window.
