Manchester United have lodged a bid of £2.5 million for the services of Fenerbahce custodian Altay Bayindir as a potential backup goalkeeper, reports The Express, citing Turkish journalist Murat Zorlu as their source.

As the co-founder of Sports Digitale, Zorlu shared the news of the Red Devils’ bid on the network’s podcast. This development comes amid recent speculations linking the 25-year-old shot-stopper to a switch to Old Trafford, as Erik ten Hag aims to bolster his team for the 2023/24 campaign.

Regarded as one of the top keepers in the Turkish Super Lig, Bayindir’s capabilities have earned him recognition on the international scene with the Turkey national team. His contract with Fenerbahce extends until 2025, indicating that Manchester United might have to shell out an extra sum to secure his services.

Having racked up over 100 games for Fenerbahce and being a key figure in Turkey’s national team, Bayindir’s existing contract lasts until 2027.

The response from Fenerbahce to United’s bid remains to be seen. Nevertheless, reports suggest that the Turkish outfit may consider parting ways with Bayindir if the proposal meets their valuation.
