Manchester United is actively searching for a temporary solution at the left-back position, and the team is reportedly considering signing free agent Ryan Bertrand, as per Stretty News.

The 34-year-old Bertrand is currently a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Leicester City and is presently maintaining his fitness with Chelsea’s loan development squad.

According to Stretty News, initial talks between Bertrand’s representatives and United have reportedly taken place, with Bertrand identified as a potential option for the left-back position.

The club’s interest in the 34-year-old indicates an urgent need for a stopgap in that role, particularly as the new season is already underway.

The team’s urgency stems from an injury crisis, as their primary left-back options Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are both sidelined due to injuries. As a result, Alvaro Fernandez is currently the only fit left-back on the roster. Although he is yet to make his debut and is rumored to be considering a loan move to Granada in La Liga, he remains an option for United.

However, Diogo Dalot is most likely to be the temporary solution for the upcoming match against Nottingham Forest.
