Manchester United’s head coach, Erik ten Hag, has set his sights on Sporting Lisbon’s central defender, Goncalo Inacio, as a potential winter signing to bolster the Red Devils’ defensive line.
According to information from The Sun, “Manchester United are gearing up for a January swoop for highly-rated Sporting Lisbon central defender Goncalo Inacio.”
Sources from SunSport have disclosed that the Manchester outfit has dispatched a scout to Lisbon with explicit instructions to keep a detailed eye on the performance of the Portuguese international in the coming months. This move anticipates a potential bid in the upcoming transfer window.
The scout’s assignment includes attending live matches featuring the 22-year-old defender.

Confirming this, the source mentioned that the scout marked his presence at Sporting’s recent weekend match and is scheduled to witness the Europa League face-off against Atalanta this Thursday.
Although Inacio has committed to a fresh contract with Sporting, there’s a €60million (£52m) buyout clause in place. Interestingly, Manchester United is reportedly ready to meet this valuation.
