Following a temporary tenure at Marseille, Eric Bailly has made a comeback to Manchester United. However, the Ivorian defender is not participating in the Red Devils’ pre-season US tour, sparking speculations of an impending departure this summer.
Moreover, Erik ten Hag hasn’t included Bailly in the training sessions. Reports suggest that United are determined to sell Bailly this transfer window.
Marc Mechenoua, a French journalist, has shared on Twitter that Al-Nassr, current team of ex-Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo, is engaging in discussions with Bailly regarding a possible move.
Mechenoua posits that Ronaldo’s rapport with Bailly, who shared the pitch with him in five games in the 2021-22 season, could potentially sway Al-Nassr’s decision to pursue the defender.
With a line-up including Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, and Lisandro Martinez, Manchester United’s defensive unit is already packed. Consequently, Bailly seems to be a surplus resource and a strong candidate for a transfer.
The clock is ticking on Bailly’s contract, which expires next year. Given his exclusion from Ten Hag’s strategy, it’s doubtful that United would hinder his permanent transfer this summer. Since his 2016 move to Old Trafford, the Ivorian’s career has been plagued by injuries.
INFO – Prêté à Marseille la saison passée et de retour à Manchester United, Eric Bailly est en discussions avec Al-Nassr. Une piste qui peut certainement s’expliquer par sa proximité avec Cristiano Ronaldo. #Mercato #TeamOM
