Manchester United have now turned their attention to Spain – and in particular Barcelona – as they look to continue to strengthen their squad this summer.
Manchester United make bid for Barcelona star
According to a report from Nacional via The Mirror, the Red Devils have made a £43 million bid for Barcelona star Andreas Christensen.
Manchester United already have a plethora of options already available in central defence.
Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, and Victor Lindelof all impressed last season and will be in and around the starting 11 once again this time around.
Meanwhile, Luke Shaw is also a very strong option to cover in the heart of the defence when needed. Harry Maguire remains at the club for now despite rumours that he could be on his way out alongside Eric Bailly, who has recently been on the receiving end of two bids from Saudi Arabia.
Despite his quality, United’s aforementioned defensive depth means it would be a challenge for Christensen to force his way into Erik ten Hag’s starting lineup, and for this reason, it could be difficult to convince him to join.
While we don’t think this is highly likely, it is possible that Christensen’s agent is in the process of getting rumours out to secure better offers for his client. United are looking for defensive reinforcements in case Maguire leaves, so a move for Christensen is by no means outside the realms of possibility.
