According to the Mirror, Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino is eyeing a move for young Bournemouth left back Milos Kerkez who has been enjoying a great debut season in the Premier League.

20-year-old Kerkez has been phenomenal for Bournemouth and has been drawing interest from the Premier League ‘big boys’.

According to the report, Manchester United will prove strong competition for Poch and Chelsea as they are also interested in the left back.

Both clubs will be in the market for left backs, and it is expected they will be battling it out for the young Hungarian defender.

The left-back position has been a constant headache for the Blues.

Ben Chilwell’s injury issues do not seem to go away. The English international has regularly suffered injuries since joining the club from Leicester City.

Marc Cucurella on the other hand has as well struggled with injuries but that notwithstanding, the club hasn’t trusted him enough to make that left back position his own.

As such, Poch has more often than not had to rely on Levi Colwill, a centre back, to occupy the left back position.

The left back situation is much more dire for Manchester United.

Top left back Luke Shaw has struggled with injuries all season, being limited to only 15 appearances all season.

His worthy understudy Tyrell Malacia has been injured all season and hasn’t made a single appearance.

Diogo Dalot who can often fill in at left back has had his hands full at the right back position as fellow right back Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been injured most of the season.

Erik ten Hag has had to field Lindelof, a right footed centre back, at left back on most occasions.

Sofyan Amrabat has also been forced to put in some shifts at left back.

Given Kerkez’s influence at Bournemouth thus far, it is no surprise that Chelsea and Man United both want him.

The Cherries are expected to get a big profit on their investment of £15.5 million last season, the amount they paid to sign the defender from Dutch club AZ Alkmaar.
