Manchester United’s vice captain Bruno Fernandes has expressed his admiration for Eintracht Frankfurt’s emerging talent, Randal Kolo Muani.
However, the Portuguese midfield maestro’s commendation may inadvertently boost the prospects of Kolo Muani’s transfer to United, as manager Erik ten Hag continues his tireless quest for a proficient striker.
Since Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from Old Trafford last year, the Red Devils have been on the hunt for a natural striker, exploring various player profiles. While Wout Weghorst was loaned in January, the move didn’t yield the desired results.
In an interview with Royaltiz, Fernandes lavished praise on the Frankfurt sensation, effectively endorsing Kolo Muani for a potential move to Manchester United.
He commented, “Kolo Muani, I think he is doing really well. We saw it in the World Cup that he was good, but I think now, during the season, he’s been doing even better. I think he’s, together with Rafa [Leao], one of the most promising [players] in the world right now. He probably has now the next step to a big club.”
While United are monitoring Kolo Muani’s impressive trajectory, his substantial £85m price tag might be a hurdle.
Bayern Munich, the consistent Bundesliga title-holders, have also identified Kolo Muani as a potential successor for Robert Lewandowski.
However, with Bayern currently focused on luring Harry Kane away from Tottenham, this might pave the way for United to approach the Frankfurt striker.
