Manchester United is currently facing a challenging season in the Premier League, currently sitting in 12th position. The team’s underwhelming performance has intensified the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag.

Injuries and off-field issues have taken a significant toll on the squad, leading to several key players being unavailable due to various injuries. Amidst these challenges, one glaring issue has been the team’s midfield.

Mason Mount was deployed in midfield, but he often found himself playing too far forward, leaving Casemiro exposed defensively.

Scott McTominay, despite limited opportunities, failed to make a strong impression on the manager. Moreover, key players like Sofyan Amrabat and Kobbie Mainoo have been sidelined, training separately, further delaying their return to the team.

In light of these struggles, Tutto Juve reports that Manchester United is now setting its sights on the future of their midfield by targeting 19-year-old Ecuadorian sensation Oscar Zambrano, who currently plies his trade with LDU Quito.

Zambrano is touted as a “modern holding midfielder” known for his strong tackling and passing abilities.

However, the Red Devils face stiff competition in their pursuit of the young talent. Both Juventus and Barcelona have expressed interest in signing Oscar Zambrano, with Juventus even eyeing a potential January move.

Manchester United is determined not to repeat the mistake of missing out on Moises Caicedo, who joined Chelsea in the summer, and is eager to secure the services of Oscar Zambrano. While Liga de Quito has received bids for the talented midfielder, including offers from Ajax and Luton, the terms have yet to align with the club’s expectations.
