Jose Mourinho has recently been appointed as the new manager of Turkish outfit Fenerbahce, and already he’s looking to call in reinforcements to strengthen the squad.

The Portuguese manager is no stranger to building winning teams, with a trophy cabinet that includes 28 titles won, as well as being awarded the World’s Best Club Coach award four times for his work as manager at FC Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid in 2003, 2004, 2009 and 2011.

The Special One is certainly that, and now has another record under his belt, being the only manager to have won all three of UEFA’s European Competitions, winning the Champions League in 2003/04 and 2009/10 with FC Porto and Inter Milan, winning the Europa League with Manchester United in 2016/17 and most recently the European Conference League with AS Roma in 2021/22.

However, the Europa League title wasn’t the only tournament the 61-year-old won whilst at the helm at Old Trafford, having also secured English League Cup and English Super Cup victories in the same year.

During his two and a half years at United, Mourinho managed the Red Devils across 144 games, racking up and impressive 84 wins and 31 draws.

It was during his time at United that The Special One noticed then 15-year-old Mason Greenwood, and tipped the youngster for greatness.

Now, seven years on, Greenwood has made a successful return to the world of football with his loan spell at Getafe making top tier clubs pay attention to the 22-year-old, with the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Juventus looking to sign the talented winger.

Recently, it was reported by The Sun that Fenerbahce are also interested Greenwood and are hoping that his previous links with Mourniho could sway the recent Getafe Player of the Season to the Turkish club.

It’s now being reported by Ahmet Konanc on X that Fenbahce have requested information from Manchester United about Mason Greenwood’s availability and that this request comes directly from Mourinho.

Despite this admiration from The Special One, it is expected at this time that Greenwood is more open to a move to the Italian League Serie A, with talks having opened up between Juventus and United, as well as interest from Napoli.
