Saudi Arabia have spent this summer demonstrating their intent to become a powerhouse in the world of football.

Having brought in Cristiano Ronaldo at the very end of 2022, they have now pushed forwards during this off-season, making some enormous signings. These have included the likes of Karim Benzema, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, and N’Golo Kante, but they are evidently not done there.

Now, a Manchester United player is the subject of interest from the Middle Eastern nation, with two offers from Saudi Pro League clubs being made.

What’s the latest on this transfer saga?

29-year-old Eric Bailly has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford over recent years.

The maverick centre-back’s inability to stay fit has meant that no United manager has been able to rely on him over the last few years, and now, he is firmly out of Erik ten Hag’s plans. Bailly spent last season on loan at Marseille but now is set to make a permanent move away from Old Trafford, with the Saudi Pro League currently the most likely destination.

According to The Mail, two clubs from Saudi Arabia have made offers to sign Bailly, whose contract will expire next summer.

United will be keen to get him off their books for a variety of reasons. His £80,000 per year wages are expensive for a player who rarely plays, while the Red Devils will also be able to recoup some money on the player on whom they spent £30 million in 2016.
