The Seagulls visit Old Trafford for a clash with the Red Devils this weekend, and given Brighton’s current form, it promises to be an exciting matchup.
Brighton kicked off the season in impressive fashion, winning three of their first four games and showcasing their attacking prowess with twelve (12) goals scored.
Unfortunately, hat-trick hero, Evan Ferguson is set to miss the upcoming match due to an ongoing knee injury he sustained during a game against Newcastle.
The setback became evident during the recent international break when the 18-year-old was forced to withdraw from the Republic of Ireland squad due to his knee injury. Brighton had initially hoped that Ferguson would recover in time to join the squad for the clash at Old Trafford, but manager Roberto De Zerbi confirmed that he is “not in the best condition” at the moment.
While the absence of Ferguson is undoubtedly a blow for Brighton, there’s a glimmer of hope for fans with the arrival of Barcelona’s Ansu Fati. Fati, who joined Brighton on a season-long loan, is expected to make his debut for the club. However, due to his limited training time with the team, it’s uncertain whether he’ll start the game.
De Zerbi on Ansu Fati: “Tomorrow during the game, or during the second half, he can play. Logically after three or four training sessions, to understand everything is difficult. But first he can show his quality and I don’t want to put any pressure on Ansu.”
Brighton had enjoyed a positive start to the season before the international break, winning three out of their first four games and scoring ten goals in the process. Despite the setback of Ferguson’s injury, the team will be hoping to maintain their momentum as they face a struggling Manchester United side.
