There’s less than a week left for Manchester United to sign more players before the summer transfer window ends.

And with names like Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia out on injury, ten Hag is in desperate need of finding cover for defence.

According to Manchester Evening News, players such as Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon and Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella have been shortlisted.

The Red Devils have also so far spent a whopping £174 million throughout the window and sold players like Alex Telles and Zidane Iqbal.

It’s been a long and stressful time, but now former United captain Gary Neville has offered his opinion on what needs to happen on his Sky Sports podcast:

“I think they have to try and do something in the transfer market this week. They have got to try and get players out, some clubs get players out really well – United don’t tend to get players out really well.

“They’ve got better players in this summer but there’s no doubt they want another player or two, a left-back and a central midfield player. I think they need that or else they’re going to be put under real pressure, particularly when all the other competitions kick in.

“There is another one or two players needed just to beef up the squad because of injuries. He does want another midfield player in there to sit alongside Casemiro, so it’s an important week for United before Arsenal [on Sunday].”

But will Erik ten Hag and the rest of the club follow this advice? We will just have to wait and see.
