In a recent development, The Sun has learned that Mason Greenwood, who joined Getafe on loan from Manchester United, is contemplating a permanent shift to the Spanish team.

According to The Sun, Greenwood has been thriving in his new environment in Spain and is seriously considering extending his stay with the Geta Azulones.

His decision to explore this avenue comes on the heels of a challenging phase at United. The club had decided that it was best for Greenwood to move away temporarily after facing considerable scrutiny due to an off-field incident.

The English forward was apprehended in early 2022 over allegations of coercive control, assault, and attempted rape, brought forth by his then-girlfriend. Nevertheless, these charges were subsequently dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service a month later when pivotal witnesses retracted their statements.

Following these events, Greenwood was excluded from United’s playing squad for the remainder of the 2022/23 season. While there were initial talks of reintegrating him, the substantial public outcry forced the club’s hand, prompting the loan move.

With his recent performance for Getafe, especially after netting a goal in their 2-2 draw against Celta Vigo, it seems Greenwood is keen on starting fresh in Spain.

It’s yet to be determined how Manchester United will approach the situation or if they’ll seek any transfer fee.
