Manchester United’s midfielder, Casemiro, is on the verge of missing the upcoming Manchester derby due to fitness concerns.
Having recently recovered from an ankle injury, the Brazilian resumed training this Monday. Despite this progress, Erik ten Hag, United’s manager, is not optimistic about his chances of starting the match at Old Trafford.
Casemiro’s participation remains uncertain, as Ten Hag stated on Friday, “Case is a race against the clock. He is not 100 per cent. He will do everything he can to be part of it, to start the game, but we have to see. We have some hours to go.”
In the backdrop of Casemiro’s situation, Manchester United is grappling with the absence of several crucial defensive players, such as Luke Shaw and Lisandro Martinez. This scenario might pave the way for Harry Maguire to retain his position in the starting lineup, preferred over Victor Lindelof.
Furthermore, players like Amad Diallo, Tyrell Malacia, and Jadon Sancho remain sidelined. On a brighter note, Aaron Wan-Bissaka has rejoined training sessions.
The predicted lineup for Manchester United is as follows: Onana; Dalot, Varane, Maguire, Reguilon; McTominay, Amrabat; Antony, Fernandes, Rashford; Hojlund.
The match is scheduled to take place at Old Trafford, kicking off at 3:30pm GMT on Sunday, October 29, 2023.
