Manchester United’s wonderkid, Kobbie Mainoo, made a much-anticipated return to the field after his unfortunate ankle injury sustained during a pre-season match against Real Madrid.
Mainoo, who’s just 18, faced an untimely setback when he collided with Real’s Rodrygo in the early minutes of the friendly. The incident led to him exiting the game in less than three minutes, and subsequently, the club revealed that he would miss the initial phase of the 2023/24 campaign.
In a recent UEFA Youth League match, Mainoo donned the Red Devils’ colors once more, taking the field against FC Copenhagen’s U19 side. He got a solid 45 minutes of play before being substituted during half-time.
Ahead of this comeback, Manchester United’s head coach, Erik ten Hag, had spoken about Mainoo’s recovery journey. Confirming that the young star had re-joined training sessions, ten Hag made it clear that his eventual integration into the main squad would be closely overseen.
Coincidentally, the senior Manchester United team is gearing up to challenge the very same FC Copenhagen in an upcoming Champions League group encounter this Tuesday.
