Manchester United have reportedly entered the race for the Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, Football365 reports.

The Ukranian has been nothing short of outstanding for the 14-time UEFA Champions League winners this season. He shone in Real’s second leg tie in the Champions League quarter-final against Manchester City, saving two penalties in the shootout.

However, a report in Spanish outlet Fichajes claims that Lunin is thinking of leaving.

The report says: ”Although his current contract with Real Madrid extends until 2025 and the club shows interest in renewing it, the possibility of a change of scenery seems increasingly real for Lunin, especially with competition from such prestigious teams as Manchester United, PSG and Bayern Munich.”

United’s goalkeeper situation seemed to be resolved with last summer’s signing of Andre Onana from Inter Milan for a fee in the region of £45m.

In his debut campaign at Old Trafford, Onana has had a number of calamitous errors that have put his place in the team’s long term future in doubt. Many fans believe that he was the main culprit for the Red Devils’ exit from the Champions League this season.

With Lunin’s contract at Los Blancos coming to an end in 2025, he may well be questioning his starting position as Thibaut Courtois nears a return from injury. A move to Manchester could end up being suitable for both parties.
