According to journalist Andre Hernan, Manchester United have recently sent scouts to monitor Palmeiras’ 18-year-old wonderkid Luis Guilherme.

TeamTalk report states that Guilherme could cost £47m this summer due to a release clause in his contract.

Hernan claims that Liverpool are willing to pay £17m to secure Guilherme’s signature, but Palmeiras are unlikely to accept such a low fee. While it is unlikely that United will make a move for the Brazilian, it could be a good opportunity for the club to explore the South American market.

The 18-year-old winger has already made 38 appearances for Palmeiras’ first team. He scored a stunning last minute winner from outside the box in his club’s last Copa Libertadores game.

INEOS may see Guilherme as a player to be loaned out to their other club, OGC Nice, before potentially getting a chance at Old Trafford. It would represent a shift in culture and ambitions, as United have rarely looked to sign players directly from South America. Instead, they often end up paying huge amounts for these type of players a few years later.
