There are growing reservations within the Manchester United boardroom regarding Erik ten Hag’s ability to manage the club’s high-profile stars, reports Football Insider.

The United manager, over the span of his two-year reign, has faced challenges, notably in handling situations surrounding players such as Mason Greenwood and Antony. However, it’s his handling of certain key figures that’s raising eyebrows within the club.

Football Insider highlighted concerns regarding three specific players – Harry Maguire, who saw a reduction in his leadership role; Greenwood, who was sent on loan to Getafe; and Jadon Sancho, the high-value signing who seems to be on the sidelines more often than not.

While Ten Hag received commendations for his handling of football icon Cristiano Ronaldo last season, even leading to the premature termination of Ronaldo’s lucrative contract, as per Football Insider, there are increasing murmurs about his inability to manage and harmonise a locker room filled with international stars and the accompanying personalities.

This season has seen United endure a turbulent start, with four losses in their initial eight Premier League encounters. Their last-minute win against Brentford before the international break has only temporarily alleviated the intensifying scrutiny on Ten Hag.

According to Football Insider, behind the curtains, frustrations are mounting, and there’s a palpable tension between the manager and several squad members.
