The return from the international break has provided United with some positive news when it comes to the injury front.

The likes of Raphael Varane and Sergio Reguilon have recovered from their respective injuries, with youngster Kobbie Mainoo making positive progress on the injury he suffered in pre-season.

While the prognosis has been positive for some players, things haven’t improved much for others and there’s news now of a setback suffered by Luke Shaw.

Shaw, who has made the left back spot his own for both club and country over the past few years, had been ruled out with a muscle problem. This injury has now turned out worse than initially feared in news that will be a blow to manager Erik ten Hag.

Shaw has regularly had injury setbacks throughout his time at United and has continually hampered his career.

According to talkSPORT, Shaw is now scheduled to be out sidelined for another five weeks.

That means that Shaw will be ruled out until at least the end of November.

With news that Tyrell Malacia will also be out of action until the new year, this latest setback means that all eggs are in the Sergio Reguilon basket when it comes to the left hand side of defence.

Reguilon has only just returned in time for the Sheffield United clash this evening and United will be hoping that the Spaniard can keep himself injury-free until at least Luke Shaw returns.

If not, we may go back to seeing the likes of Sofyan Amrabat or Victor Lindelof deputising on that side of the pitch.
