Kylian Mbappe had a Manchester United shirt with Cristiano Ronaldo’s name when he was a child as his mother Fayza Lamari opens up on his childhood football loyalties.

Fayza Lamari, mother of global football sensation Kylian Mbappe, has shed light on her son’s deep-rooted passion for the sport, revealing his childhood collection of football jerseys from top clubs including Manchester United, adorned with Cristiano Ronaldo’s name.

From an early age, Mbappe demonstrated an intense love for football, joining AS Bondy in Paris when he was just six years old. His mother recounted the variety of football jerseys he owned, naming Milan, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Rennes as some of the clubs represented in his childhood collection.

In the lead-up to PSG’s Champions League group stage match against Milan on Wednesday, Lamari spoke about Mbappe’s special connection to the Rossoneri, sharing that he would wear his Milan jersey to both training and bed, highlighting his attachment to the team.

In her statement to Football Italia, Lamari remarked, “He wore it for training and even to bed. But like so many others: Real Madrid, France, PSG, Manchester United for CR7. He loved top strikers, but he could also wear the shirt of (Swiss striker, Alexander) Frei of Rennes.”

Lamari went on to confirm her son’s early support for Milan, detailing his intense reactions to their games: “He is the son of sportsmen, but he was immersed in cheering for Milan right from the start. When he came home, he would only talk about Milan. If Milan lost, he could throw the remote control at the TV and say a few bad words in Italian.”

Antonio Riccardi, a former coach and friend of Mbappe, echoed these sentiments, acknowledging the young striker’s admiration for the Italian club: “Kylian told me that Milan were part of his plans, but at the end of his career. He was joking, unfortunately. No one or almost no one can afford him now.”

Riccardi also reminisced about imposing football matches on Mbappe, “I used to impose on him all the league matches. I remember the one for the 18th Scudetto, it was a big party. But I used to tease him by telling him he looked like Dida. At the age of five, he was already stronger than me, someone who is ten years older. It was nice to coach him, and he would score when he decided to win. He is a real football fan.
