Erik ten Hag, the current manager of Manchester United, finds himself under increasing scrutiny as the team struggles in the early part of the season.

The Red Devils have suffered losses in five of their first 10 matches in the Premier League, which has resulted in them occupying the eighth spot in the standings.

At this point, they are 11 points behind Tottenham Hotspur, the league leaders. Adding to their woes, they were recently eliminated from the Carabao Cup by Newcastle United.

BetVictor is currently offering 12/1 odds on Michael Carrick making a sensational return to Manchester United in a managerial role.

He has prior experience leading the club as a caretaker manager and is currently placed fifth on the list of potential favourites to take over.

He follows behind other managerial candidates such as Roberto de Zerbi, Graham Potter, Julian Nagelsmann, and Zinedine Zidane, the latter of whom is leading the pack with 4/1 odds.

Carrick, a former player and fan-favourite at Manchester United, earned the trust and admiration of Sir Alex Ferguson during his playing career, racking up 464 appearances for the club.

After retiring as a player, he embarked on his coaching career at Old Trafford.

His managerial skills have been on display since he took charge of Middlesbrough in October 2022. Under his guidance, the team has shown signs of rejuvenation, making it to the play-offs earlier this year. Currently, Middlesbrough is in good form, and another shot at promotion this season is looking likely.
