Erik ten Hag’s job has been subject to conversation time and time again this season, virtually after every under-par performance, which there has been lots of – all culminating into one horrendous season for ten Hag’s Reds.

The trend has been speculation after speculation, the one good performance or a string of good results give fans some hope and quiets some of the rumours before another hard reset in a lacklustre performance.

The latest episode of this unending cycle was that euphoric, euphoric F.A Cup win against bitter rivals Liverpool just two weeks. The players all played their hearts out for ten Hag and came away with a result no one would have expected.

True to the cycle, United proceeded to display an absolutely horrible performance against struggling Brentford last Saturday, further fuelling the rumours around ten Hag’s job after the summer.

Marquee Italian journalist has given his thoughts and what we can expect regarding ten Hag’s future at Old Trafford after the season is over while speaking to CaughtOffside for his latest Daily Briefing column.

“It was another difficult result for Manchester United yesterday, so what does this mean for Erik ten Hag’s future as we continue to see new managers linked with the job at Old Trafford?” Romano wrote.

“It’s something normal when you have new owners to discuss the manager position internally. Conversations between INEOS and Ten Hag have always been good and positive in the recent months; but results in the final two months will be important to make a decision on Ten Hag. Also, Man United want to finalise their board structure before making any final decision on the manager,” he continued.

“As I said last week, there have also not been any talks between United and Gareth Southgate, despite rumours. Let’s see how the season ends for Ten Hag, with nothing being decided now,” Romano concluded.
