Manchester United outcast winger Mason Greenwood has been enjoying something of a career renaissance in Spain on loan at Getafe.

His loan deal expires next month and a lot of conversation is swirling around his future and what Manchester United will decide to do with him.

He has been out of the fold since United tried to reintegrate him into the squad last year after all charges against him were dropped – a move that did not go down well at all with the public and the club was forced to exile him to Getafe.

Fast forward months later and Greenwood is on 8 goals and 5 assists in 29 appearances this season, a fine return one might add.

This fine career revival has birthed speculations of the English winger’s next destination with reports of big European teams being interested in the forward.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has given an update on Greenwood, his future and what United plan to do with him.

“I’m still told that the idea is for Greenwood to be sold, for the club to cash in on him,” Romano wrote for The Daily Briefing.

According to Romano, United have decidedly settled on cashing in on him.

Greenwood’s contract expires next year which can explain the haste in cashing in on him to avoid losing him for nothing next year.

Romano also addressed earlier reports of Lazio being interested in the winger.

The Italian club had been given the chance to sign Greenwood last September on deadline day as reported by One Football.

Romano has now clearly stated there is no longer anything budding on that front.

“Despite reports, I don’t have anything on Lazio and Greenwood so far. Many clubs are monitoring him but all waiting to understand Man United’s final position. Lazio asked for Greenwood on Deadline Day last summer but it was always Getafe leading the race from what I heard,” Romano wrote.

It remains to be seen where Greenwood ends up come the summer.
