Manchester United fans can breathe a sigh of relief as Sergio Reguilon and Raphael Varane are set to return to action post the international break against Sheffield United.
After a noticeable absence since the 4-3 loss to Bayern Munich in late September, Reguilon is gearing up for a comeback. His impact since his loan move from Tottenham has been undeniable, and his void was felt more acutely with both Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw sidelined.
Though Varane sat out during United’s thrilling triumph over Brentford this past Saturday due to a “minor issue”, he had participated in a training session the preceding day. However, cautious of Varane’s past injuries, Erik ten Hag chose to exclude the French defender from the lineup.
Insiders suggest both Reguilon and Varane are on track to make the journey to Bramall Lane. Adding credence to this, Reguilon took part in a private match against Barnsley this week, sharing the field with Donny van de Beek and Antony.
However, fans might have to wait a tad longer for Kobbie Mainoo’s return. Malacia’s expected back in three weeks, whereas Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka remain on the injury list for an extended period.
