Whether this is a result of the latest takeover news for Sir Jim Ratcliffe, or whether this was something in the works before, it seems that Manchester United Football Club are set to make a key signing for the club.

It has already been reported in many places that Sir Jim is looking to take control of the sporting operations at the club and that some senior figures are in danger.

And this latest news could be the start of that process.

That’s because Manchester United have come to terms on agreement for Ben Clarke to join the club, according to FootballInsider.

For those unfamiliar with the name, he is the current Head of Academy Recruitment at Cardiff City, a role that he has impressed in at the Championship side.

We reported last week that United were looking to make major changes to their scouting setup and this is a firm step in that direction.

MUFC are setting out their intention to once again make the club the destination for the best young talent in the country and it starts with the academy.

Clarke will be coming into the club in a similar role to what he had in Wales and will hope to ensure that the players in the academy are at the required level to make it to the Manchester United first team.
