With the summer transfer window in full swing, a significant development is unfolding at Manchester United. The Red Devils are on the verge of capturing English sensation Mason Mount, with a final bid that could reach a sum of £55m been tabled. The transfer is expected to be finalised by the month’s end, and there’s a shared sense of positivity that a deal will be struck soon.
Manchester United’s coach, Erik ten Hag, has been a long-time admirer of Mount from their times in the Dutch Eredivisie, and it appears they will soon be working together at Old Trafford.
Assuming the move materialises, here are a few potential ways Mount could be utilized at Man United.

Drawing comparisons to United’s current midfield maestro, Christian Eriksen, Mount could find himself paired with Casemiro in the pivot role. Eriksen had his initial struggles adapting to this deeper position, as was evident in United’s 4-0 defeat at Brentford early in the 2022/23 season. However, he grew into the role, becoming a vital part of Ten Hag’s plans. Mount, earmarked as Eriksen’s long-term replacement, may follow a similar path, with Casemiro providing much-needed support during this transition.
Possible formations: (Casemiro – Mount) OR (McTominay – Mount)
